PROGRAM CONTENT

ON WATER connects Berlin's water research with the urban community and its water experts. The programme continuously monitors which topics are particularly relevant and makes the content accessible. The monthly specialist briefing provides information on current developments in research, politics, media and practice on various water-related topics. Gistable also makes scientific findings understandable and even audible. The discourse overviews show which topics are being discussed in Berlin – locally anchored and globally embedded.

Here you will find bundled content related to water – for everyone involved in research, practice and urban society.

RESEARCH FROM BERLIN

Together with the Gistable platform, we are making research on water from Berlin accessible. The digital platform translates complex studies and scientific texts into easy-to-understand audio and text summaries. Numerous works by scientists from the Berlin University Alliance have already been converted into so-called “gists” – combined with a feedback process with the researchers to ensure that the content is reproduced correctly. Browse through research results from Berlin here: https://www.gistable.com/.

DISCOURSE

What are researchers and practitioners in Berlin talking about? Which topics are relevant? Where are the interfaces with research? Our discourse overviews examine how certain water-related topics are discussed by stakeholders in Berlin. The discourses are analysed using various sources, including scientific studies, political documents, media reports and contributions from civil society initiatives and the business community. Both global contexts and local characteristics are taken into account in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of the topic.

The analysis focuses on discursive contributions since the beginning of 2024, but in some cases older contributions are also taken into account for the necessary contextualisation. The discourse overviews were compiled for the TD-Lab of the Berlin University Alliance by our project partner polisphere.
